Table Rules

Rules for Playing Time

If all the tables are in use when a player is ready to play, the player will have to join a queue at any table of the player's choice.

The player will join a queue by putting his or her paddle under the table of the player's choice. But while waiting for a turn to play at the table, an opportunity to play arises at a different table, the player will have the choice to begin play at the new table provided there is no one waiting to play at that table.

A player can only use one paddle to be placed in a queue. When there is a queue at a table, practice time before a match should be limited to five minutes.  At the end of the 5-minute practice time, if the players do not want to play a match, they can choose to keep practicing for an additional 15 minutes for a total practice time of 20 minutes.

Players who exhaust their 20 minutes of practice, will step away from the table and make room for waiting players.

At the end of the 5-minute practice time, if the players do want to play a match, they can proceed to do so by playing a best-of-five-game set, with each game ending at 11 points, unless the scores are tied at 10. If the scores are tied at 10, the first player whose score is two points higher than the other wins the game.

One table farthest from the storage room will be set aside as the winner's table. At the winner's table the winner can keep on playing as long as he (or she) chooses.  Players who choose to play at this table should put their paddles under the table in a queue and when a game ends the first person in the queue gets to play the winner.  Should the winner of a game also choose to leave, the two players at the head of the queue get to play at this table.

At the remaining tables, if there are two or more people waiting to play, then both the winner and the loser will leave the table and the two waiting players will begin to play.  If there is only one person in the queue, then the winner can continue to play for one more game.  At the end of the second game the winner of the first game will have to leave, regardless of the outcome of the second game.

If there is only one player in the queue, then the loser of the game can stay on to play the new game, if the winner decides to leave or has to leave if this is the second game for the winner.

People waiting to play will have to put their paddles under a table where they wish to play; simply waiting near the table will not be enough to show that they are waiting to play.

Note:  These rules *will* be enforced.  Please report violations to any of the members who serve on the Board.  Violations will be investigated and appropriate action taken.  Players who continue to violate the rules will be asked and expected to leave the club permanently.
